The problem we set out to solve

Surveys told organizations what their scores were. They never explained why, or what to do about it. Focus groups were too slow, too expensive, and too small to represent the full employee voice. By the time insights were synthesized and action plans drafted, the moment to act had already passed.

The gap between "we know there's a problem" and "we know what to do" wasn't a leadership problem. It was an infrastructure problem. No tool existed that could go deep at scale until Constellation.

03

Session Experience & Product Management

Served as PM for the product through design and build. Defined the five-section session flow, four session types, and the real-time node graph visualization, translating the product vision into a structured, facilitator-friendly experience. Owned the end-to-end UX, wrote requirements, coordinated with engineering, and kept the team on track from first prototype to launch-ready product.

04

Project Planning & Platform UX

Owned project planning and platform UX across the full product lifecycle. Defined the session lifecycle, participant experience, and facilitator controls, ensuring the platform was enterprise-ready with zero friction for participants. No account, no download, just a link. Maintained roadmap sequencing and delivery coordination across design and engineering throughout build.

05

Go-to-Market Readiness

Collaborated closely with the product marketing team to develop positioning, GTM talk tracks, discovery frameworks, and customer success enablement materials. Contributed the product perspective including use cases, session types, and outcome framing that grounded the adoption playbook and set up the CS team to drive meaningful, recurring engagement from the first session forward.

MY CONTRIBUTION

From brilliant idea to enterprise listening platform

I led product from earliest discovery through platform architecture, AI moderation design, session experience, and go-to-market readiness — building the strategy and product foundation that took Constellation from concept to a fully operational platform ready for enterprise deployment.

01

Customer Discovery

Partnered with the executive team to conduct discovery interviews with HR leaders, CHROs, and People Ops professionals across our customer base. Together we identified where existing listening tools were failing: not in data collection, but in depth, speed, and actionability. The consistent finding was that surveys gave scores, but nothing gave answers. That insight became the product's north star.

02

Product Vision & Strategy

Our CTO originated Constellation's core concept: an AI moderator running simultaneous, personalized conversations with an entire organization at once, producing focus group depth at survey scale and ending with a validated action plan. I took that concept and shaped it into a product. I led discovery and ideation sessions to surface additional use cases, introduced the double-diamond workflow as our design framework, and owned roadmap prioritization to drive speed to market.

WHAT WE BUILT

Five sections. One session. A complete picture.

Constellation routes every participant through a structured five-section flow, surfacing issues, crowdsourcing solutions, and ending with a ranked, employee-backed action plan with assigned owners. No analyst required.

I. Simultaneous Personalized Conversations

The AI moderator dynamically adapts questions for each participant in real time, based on their previous responses delivering the depth of a 1:1 conversation at org-wide scale, all running at the same time.

II. Live Theme Visualization

A real-time node graph surfaces emerging themes as the session runs. Larger nodes signal stronger consensus giving facilitators a live read on what matters most before the session ends, without lifting a finger.

III. Crowd-Sourced Prioritization

Every participant stack ranks issues and solutions. The result is a weighted, employee-validated priority list that is owned by the people who built it not assigned by leadership after the fact.

IV. Employee-Backed Action Planning

The session closes with a ranked list of solutions, ownership assigned, and a full picture of root cause ready to share with leadership the same day. The output isn't a slide deck. It's a plan.

"The gap between 'we know there's a problem' and 'we know what to do about it' — that's exactly what Constellation closes."

— Monique McDonough, CEO, WorkTango

What I learned

The most important reframe in building Constellation was recognizing that the problem wasn't listening — organizations were already listening. The problem was that listening had no natural path to action. Surveys produced data. Focus groups produced conversation. Neither produced an employee-validated, ready-to-execute plan. Designing for that output — not just the insight — changed everything about how we shaped the product.

Building the AI moderation layer required constant iteration between concept and real sessions. The node graph, the stack ranking mechanic, the facilitator controls, the section break moments — none of these could be specced in a vacuum. Getting real participants into real sessions early, and building from what we saw, was what took Constellation from a good idea to a product people trusted with their most sensitive organizational questions.
